This fashion show was prepared for the benefit of LÖSEV with a special coreography. This charity project, themed ‘Hope and Children’ included 60 pieces, including the ones donated to LÖSEV.

We had been at the American Quilter’s Society 16. Annual Quilt show and contest; and 14. Annual Hobbs Bonded Fibres fashion show and contest which took place in April 13-16; in Paducah/Kentucky.
“Left in Dark Rooms With No Light” won the 1st prize at the amateur category of the fashion show.
We were at Quilt Expo which was set up by International Quilt Association in Austria April 6-9, which took place at Strasbourg/France.
The garment “Left in dark rooms with no light” won honoary mention.
We had been at the American Quilter’s Society 15. Annual Quilt show and contest and 13. Annual Hobbs Bonded Fibres fashion show and contest which took place in April 22-25; in Paducah / Kentucky.
Canan Yalcin’s garment Harem won second prize in the amateur category.
Gunsu Gungor (Günsu Güngör) was interviewed by the local newspaper “Paducah Sun”
and the fashion show was displayed on the TV.
We were at Quilt Expo in Austria May 28-31. It took place at Congress Innsbruck.
It was a great pleasure for us to represent our country with five products. Our two quilts were chosen at Houston to take place at the exhibit. We also took place at the European Fashion Show with three garments.
It was fun to be a model! And it was a great pleasure for me to see the quilts of our group exhibited internationally for the first time.
The preparation for the Quilt Expo was also fun. We all wore the same sweat-shirts which had a Turkish Flag and a picture of Atatürk in a Turkish map. We offered Turkish delight in the Quilt Expo. We also gave some blue beads which was made to avert the evil eye as a present.
The Cultural Minister Istemihan Talay visited our studio at 24 March 1999 to congratulate the success of our group at the AQS show and contest.
Our exhibition called “The Story of A Quilt” in Septemeber 1998 was opened by the Cultural Minister Istemihan Talay and Mrs. Lale Aytaman.
We exchanged 20 blocks in April with both guilds which are leaded by Linda M. Poole (Pennsylvania) and Judith Berendete (Hungary). We have received their blocks as well.

Gunsu Gungor (Günsu Güngör) was invited to the opening of the Turkish-American Exhibit in 11-12 September 1999 to Pennsylvania.

At the Opening Ceremony of the show, State Representative Jerry Birmelin and Milford Mayor Ray Orben welcomed Mrs. Gungor. Her doll ‘Little Gunsu’ was with her to bring her good luck…
